Spring Wings 2022

“SPRING WINGS: this Saturday, April 30 from 10am – 2pm is a Friends of Chakchiuma Swamp event at Lee Tartt Nature Preserve celebrating spring and ALL things with wings. It’s the perfect opportunity to have an adventure on the water!
This FREE event will have a volunteer crew waiting to assist you into a boat and guide you on a 15 minute tour of Chakchiuma Swamp. This is appropriate for all ages and experience levels.
Other activities include live raptors with Mississippi Wildlife Rehabilitation, Inc., native plants with Camp Creek Native Plants, guided walks with local naturalists, creative activities with local artists and artwork from Robin Whitfield Studio.
Mississippi Wildlife Rehabilitation & Mississippi Museum of Natural Science will be there with live animals native to Mississippi. Get a closer look a snakes and alligators then compare screech owls to barn owls.
Local naturalists will lead 30 minute walks, each with a different focus to deepen awareness of plants and birds at Lee Tartt Nature Preserve
Guided Walk Schedule:
Walks will be 20 minutes at a slow pace for paying attention and asking questions
Walks are for all ages and experience levels

Camp Creek Native Plants from New Albany will be at present with a truck full of native plants.
