USACE Vicksburg District’s Grenada Lake seeks volunteers for annual Fish Habitat Day
Vicksburg, Miss. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District announces that Grenada Lake is seeking volunteers for its annual Fish Habitat Day on Dec. 3 at 7:30 a.m.
Volunteers will construct and place fish shelters using wooden stakes which help provide bedding and cover for fish.
Volunteers will meet at the North Graysport Ramp where cedar trees will be used to construct fish beds. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for volunteers followed by a drawing for door prizes after lunch. ATVs and UTVs are encouraged for this event, and users must wear a Department of Transportation-approved helmet. Volunteers are encouraged to wear warm outdoor clothing and gloves.
Fish Habitat Day is normally held in late January or early February, but was rescheduled because the lake experienced higher water levels. For more information, contact the Grenada Lake Field Office at 662- 226-5911.
