Malmaison WMA
This 9,483 acre WMA is as diverse and unique a public area as there is in the state. Mature stands of upland red and white oaks, loblolly, and beech trees with wildlife openings dominate the hill section while more water tolerant oak, ash, elm, maple and cypress are in the delta section.
Wild turkey, white-tailed deer and squirrels call Malmaison home and provide excellent hunting. The Yalobusha River, Oxbow Lakes and swamps provide great fishing.
There is a two mile nature/historical trail that gives the hiker an opportunity to see a historical cemetery, home site and hill forests.
